******Due to the severe weather conditions forecast, the beginners beekeeping class is being postponed to Tuesday 6th of March. Apologies for any inconvenience. *******
If you're thinking of keeping bees, the usual advice you'll hear online and elsewhere is to take a class with your local beekeepers' association. This is excellent advice. Attending classes will give you the chance to gain some practical information, give you the opportunity to ask questions, learn how to avoid problems and last, but certainly not least, get to know other beekeepers in your area.
We are very pleased to announce that the 2018 County Wexford Beekeepers' Association's beginners' classes will start on the 27th February and will run every Tuesday night from 8 pm for six weeks. The classes will be held in the Teagasc Centre, Old Dublin Road, Enniscorthy. Registration of new members will be from 7.30 pm on the first and second night of class.
The classes will include lectures, demonstrations and Q&A sessions with a range of highly experienced beekeepers. It will also include a practical session with a local beekeeper around May (depending on weather conditions). Plus, every new beekeeper who attends most of the classes will be entered in a free draw at the AGM in December with the chance to win a hive of bees (very kindly donated by one of our existing members).
The cost of all this is 70 euro and this will include one year's membership of County Wexford Beekeepers' Association, as well as affliliated membership of the Federation of Irish Beekeepers.
We look forward to seeing you there!
