Preparing for Winter
After the last feed is gone, then out with the feeder, out with the strips and cover the hive down for the winter. I cover down with cloths, sacks if I have them. I don’t believe in crown boards (James).
Put the roof back on. Tie the hives down for the winter. Make the entrance small. There should be room for the bees to go in and out, but small enough to keep a mouse out.

Keep an eye on them over the winter. Go out a few times to check that the lids are still on them.
