One of the best ways to learn about beekeeping and to meet other beekeepers in your area is by attending a beekeeping class. Therefore, we're very pleased to announce that County Wexford Beekeepers' Association's 2019 beginners' beekeeping classes will start on Thursday 7th February.
The classes will run for six weeks and will be held in the Teagasc Centre, the Old Dublin Road, Enniscorthy. The classes will start at 8 pm and run for approximately an hour each night. On the night of the first class (the 7th February) members of our association will be there from 7.30 pm onwards to collect payment and to register new members.
The total cost is 70 euro. This includes-
six weeks of classes
a practical class to be carried out in April/May (depending on the weather)
a year's membership of our association, which includes affiliation with the Federation of Irish Beekeepers' Associations
free entry into a draw for a beehive
refreshments after the classes
You'll be given further information about the prize draw at the classes.
The topics we'll cover will include beekeeping equipment, the beekeeping year, pests and diseases of honeybees and hive parts and assembly, among others. The classes will be given by highly experienced beekeepers who have a wealth of knowledge about beekeeping in Wexford. There'll be chances at the end of the classes to ask questions and also to meet other experienced beekeepers from the Wexford area.
If you've ever wondered if beekeeping is for you, now is your chance to find out! All welcome and we look forward to seeing you there.
